Space Melons!!

Limon
San Francisco, CA

Ridiculous.

This place is packed. I'm not entirely sure why, because it's Tuesday...but none the less I went with some friends for tapas. For them, it was dinner. But for me, it was more to quench the dingy feelings of aggravation from the events that happened to me prior in the day. But that's neither here nor there.

While we were waiting for the rest of our party to show up, we were lead downstairs to start on a pitcher of sangria while waiting. Like most pitchers of ANYTHING, the one turns into two. The two turns into three at the table, and the three blossoms to a sweet and fruity four, for good measure.

Half chicken consumed and no trace of tropical panna cotta in sight, it's time to respectively bid this place fuckin' adieu.

On the way up and out, I caught this...let's call it, monstruosie.

What's with these melon planets? Did someone that works at Pixar used to be a line chef at Limon and decided to spit out a little creative funk on the walls? Did Limon steal these from a home decorators truck while he was frantically staging a home that he needed to sell in order to make his numbers?

I don't know, but I was laughing really hard on the way out of the restaurant that night.

  1. Hello, Eric
Yes. Many places in San Francisco is busy during the weekdays. Me and my friends also love to hangout during Tuesdays nights. Everything is just so much cheaper. Hanging out on weekdays is better for students because we don't have to spend a lot of money to have fun. You should go and check out O'Farrell, in Powell. You'll love their restaurants and bars.

  2. I have always thought about trying Limon. In fact, I used to live pretty close to the one in the mission. Now, I am not sure if it was just cuz you were, well, drunk. But the way you have described the place, I still want to go sort of? At least just for the morbid curiosity of it. So...thanks, I guess.

  3. Post-modern minimal art can really be a hit or miss. Sometimes it gets it's quaint moment of epiphany across, other times, as in the case of these "Space Melons" it epically fails. I'm not sure who would be more pissed in this situation: Mark Rothko or a 17th century fruit bowl painter.
